Real-Time Energy Scheduler

Real-Time Energy Schedulers work closely with developers, load-serving entities, and power and gas marketers to bid and schedule generation resources and customer load into the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) and bilateral markets in both the Day-Ahead and Real-Time markets. They prepare and run dispatch models and provide operational data for reports and end-of-day summaries supporting the operations center. Real-Time Energy Schedulers also provide business and technical expertise related to the administration, reporting, and scheduling of wholesale power transactions, and relay key operational information to the market analytics team to ensure alignment with current gas and power scheduling practices.

Real-Time Energy Schedulers’ duties include:

  • Providing real-time desk services on a 24-hour, 7-days-per-week basis
  • Scheduling and bidding load, generation resources, and imports/exports into ISO and bilateral markets
  • Submitting Inter-Scheduling Coordinator Trades (ISTs) and coordinating checkout with counterparties
  • Updating and ensuring e-tags are approved by all operators and counterparties
