The SolarGen 2 solar facility is a 163 MW facility located on three sites totaling 1,451 acres in Imperial County, California. The facility consists of more than one million of First Solar’s thin-film photovoltaic (PV) solar modules mounted on single-axis tracking tables. PV modules generate electricity directly from sunlight through an electronic process that occurs naturally in certain types of material known as semiconductors. Solar energy frees electrons in these materials to travel through an electrical circuit, powering devices or sending electricity to the grid. Tracking systems produce more energy because they track the sun’s movement throughout the day.

ZG Service: Consult – Power Engineering, Operate – Energy Scheduling
ZGlobal performed all engineering, permitting, project design, development, and operations activities for the 163 MW PV solar project. In addition, ZGlobal engineered the electrical layout, solar design of the plant, substations, and interconnection to the electric transmission system for the three sites. ZGlobal also completed the project with dynamic scheduling into the ISO. The project was completed in 2014.
