ZGlobal, Inc. seeks Manager, Forecasting and Analytics. Job site is located at 604 Sutter Street, Suite 250, Folsom, CA 95630. The position requires Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Information Technology, Business, Industrial Engineering or directly analytic related field. 1 year of working experience in data analytic field. Supervise Energy Market Analyst. Salary: $105,000 per year

Job Duties:   

The Manager, Forecasting and Analytics manages the business functions and other analysts responsible for conducting analysis of energy market prices, behaviors, trends and driving factors in support of ZGlobal’s Market Analytics, Operations and related functions. 

The Manager, Forecasting and Analytics is responsible for supervising and training all analysts under their supervision. The Manager has overall responsibility for the tasks performed and ensuring adequate backups the following functions: 

  • Verifying and analyzing data inputs, and assessing the performance of short and mid-term Load Forecast models used for Clients, 
  • Performing day-to-day duties required to optimize the annual and monthly Congestion Revenue Rights (CRRs) portfolio for various clients by conducting in-depth analysis for selecting source-to-sink node pairs to hedge clients’ congestion costs,
  • Performing regular assessment of the performance of CRR bidding strategies, preparing reports and communicating to ZGlobal management and clients’ Risk committees, 
  • Conducting analysis to optimize daily or hourly energy schedules and bids for energy storage-solar (hybrid) assets which will be submitted to ISO market processes, 
  • Reviewing prior days’ actual hybrid resource dispatch and revenue and ensuring the forward optimization model is operating as expected. Assessing results and providing feedback for improving future optimization. 
  • Building, maintaining and operating deterministic and stochastic models, analyzing model outputs and creating reports and visualizations from model outputs. 
  • Performing energy market and operations analyses in support of but not limited to ZGlobal’s energy scheduling operations, asset valuation assessments, portfolio and risk management; and improving the processes that support these functions. 
  • Supporting ZGlobal’s energy capacity expansion modeling team and preparing customized energy market reports regarding viability of development projects for the western electricity markets. 
  • Supporting and delivering on challenging and major assignments. Contributing to development of best practices for the business. 
  • Modeling renewable generation, energy storage, hybrid and/or co-located resources, electric vehicles, demand response, distributed energy resources and other assets as required for analytics. 
  • Developing energy and capacity price forecasts. o Provide support to ZGlobal energy schedulers, traders, engineers as well as ZGlobal clients regarding modeling assumptions and price forecast results including, dispatch, supply and demand clearing, import energy transfers and capability assumptions, congestion assessment and other driving factors impacting the ISO/RTO energy market.
  • Analyzing and presenting a coherent narrative around energy market trends, including but not limited to: o Production Cost Modeling (Zonal and/or Nodal) o Integrated resource planning o Long and Short-term electricity price forecasting o Asset Valuation o Simulation Model Data Development 
  • Assuring and seeking to improve customer satisfaction and feedback through consistent customer interaction, e.g. Communication, (phone, e-mail, etc.) and Customer meetings, delivering quality documents, etc. 
  • Maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction across all analysis and engagements. 
  • Demonstrating high-quality, professional, and ethical conduct. • Producing high quality project reporting documentation. 
  • Ensuring on-time delivery of daily, weekly and monthly deliverables and reports with exceptional quality. 
  • Communicating and interpreting settlement results based on market behaviors and system conditions. 
  • Ensuring assignments are completed accurately, with awareness of up-stream and down-stream impacts, and with value to internal and external users. • Perform optimization analysis. 
  • Write operating procedures. 
  • Interface in other projects as needed.
