Responsibilities include:

  • Developing, maintaining, and applying multiple load forecasting algorithms based on historical load data and weather patterns to forecast hourly energy usage, with a focus on minimizing forecast error and associated energy costs
  • Developing long-term price forecasts to support Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) evaluations and energy asset valuation
  • Preparing and reviewing data-driven reports on a weekly and bi-weekly basis to help clients understand the financial impacts of market participation
  • Conducting technical analyses of Congestion Revenue Rights (CRRs) in California to identify congestion patterns and develop hedging strategies aligned with client risk policies
  • Participating in monthly and annual CRR allocation and auction processes for load-serving entity clients
  • Maintaining and enhancing analytical models from third-party vendors to complement existing market services
  • Managing renewable generation and battery storage assets through bid strategy development and operational scheduling

Prior to joining ZGlobal, Blessen worked as an Electrical Engineer on commercial and residential high-rise building projects in facility and project management roles.

Recent Accomplishments

  • Implemented multiple load forecasting strategies for more than 11 GWh of annual load across load-serving entity clients, utilizing over one million customer meter records and achieving forecast accuracy within 6% while maintaining associated costs below 2%.
  • Developed congestion revenue portfolios through CRR allocation and auction processes, achieving over 60% hedge coverage to offset congestion costs for client supply and demand schedules.
  • Supported the management of five renewable generation and energy storage assets, delivering more than 400 MW of hourly energy to the grid.

Education

Blessen holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science–Pilani and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University.
