Pioneer Community Energy

Pioneer Community Energy (PCE) serves Placer and El Dorado Counties, as well as the cities of Grass Valley and Nevada City. PCE is a public agency that purchases electricity on behalf of residents and businesses across a service area that stretches from east of Sacramento to the California-Nevada border. PCE offers clean, carbon-free electricity options at competitive prices.

PCE sources the electricity, while the local utility provider, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), delivers it through existing utility lines. PG&E continues to handle system maintenance, billing, and customer service. This model is known as Community Choice Aggregation (CCA), or Community Choice Energy (CCE).

ZGlobal provides scheduling coordinator services for PCE’s supplier contracts and load, including load forecasting; submittal of day-ahead, 15-minute, and real-time schedules and bids; weekly invoicing; shadow settlements; and settlement statement reconciliation and reporting. ZGlobal has provided these services since PCE’s inception in 2017 and has supported its growth to include El Dorado County and the City of Placerville, as well as the 2024 expansion to the City of Grass Valley and Nevada City in Nevada County, California.
